Q: Why does Depression in Men hurt their Mates?
If a certain mg of Depression Medication is not strong enough, why do men tend to hurt other women or their spouse?
A: Depression hurts everyone- I’m sure your not the only one he hurts. It may just be that because you are the individual he is around most often he feels that he can take out his anger/sadness on you. In most cases, it is hardly intentional. For his sake and yours, you may want to take a trip to the doctor, get his illness further examined- and maybe a higher milligram of pills. furthermore- what sort of “hurt” are you speaking of? Mental? Physical? THAT is another problem entirely. If he is abusing you, you can not POSSIBLY think it’s because of his depression, and even if it is- that is NOT an excuse to put yourself in danger. Pleae be careful. If you think you need to leave him-or tell someone about it, don’t be afraid and DON’T hesitate or make excuses for him.
Q: Can depression in men show itself as temper tantrums?
Gordon Browne is all in the news at the minute for example.
A: no because when you are depressed you are sad and you don’t want to argue you only want to be alone
Q: Why do more women suffer from depression then men?
It haunts me all the time. I think I’ve finally beaten it and then it slips its ugly little head in again.
A: Depression, which is caused by the misfiring of neurotransmitters in the brain – causing chemical imbalances of serotonin, and other important neurotranmitters which balance emotions is a serious issue. Psychology/Philosophy state that depression is a unwholesome state which we ‘can’ work through in order to experience greater levels of happiness. *Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD along with Psychologists Mark Williams, John Teasdale, and Zindel Segal have authored a book called: “The Mindful Way through Depression: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness”. If you ‘or’ anyone else you know has ever struggled with depression, take heart. Mindfulness, a simple yet powerful way of paying attention to your most difficult emotions and life experiences, can help you break the cycle of chronic unhappiness once and for all, that you may experience greater levels of happiness. In ‘The Mindful Way through Depression’, it is explained why our usual attempts to “think” our way out of a bad mood or “just snap out of it” leads us deeper into the downward spiral of depression. Through very insightful lessons-drawn from both mindfulness meditative practices and cognitive therapy – Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD and Psychologists- Mark Williams, John Teasdale, and Zindel Segal demonstrate how to sidestep the negative habits that lead to unhappiness and despair, including self-blame and rumination so you can effectively face life’s challenges with much resilience.
Q: What are some causes of clinical depression in men?
A: A wife who wont put out. A job that they have no control over their workload. Unrealized dreams or desires.
Q: Why are women more prone to depression than men and what are they doing about it?
I always see guys that are more miserable than women (due to the nature of today’s society). But the stats say that women suffer from depression more than men, even in this day of women having more rights than men,
Why is this? And what are women doing about it? And yet men commit suicide more successfully and frequently than women.
A: The documented cases of depression are higher in women than men…the same is true for anxiety disorders. Documented means, reported and diagnosed by a professional.
There are several hypothesis for this anomaly. For example:
One, women are more likely to seek help. Two, women have less problem talking about and admitting to their feelings. Three, men are more likely to self-medicate their depression with alcohol, sex and illegal drugs.
Rights of men and women have nothing to do with depression and you are wrong that women have more rights than men. SW
Q: During The Great Depression, how did men and women differ?
What were some of The Great Depression’s corruptions? How did this era create a contrast between men and women’s power and place in society? How did their roles contradict each other? Please be specific, I really want to know how people of this time lived like and especially what struggles women had to go through.
A: Some men took secondary jobs, or had to accept more menial work than they had been used to. Some children were shocked by seeing their fathers put on overalls for work instead of a suit. one girl remembered that her worst memory of the Depression was of seeing a family friend, who had been a proud captain in the US navy, taking tickets at the neighborhood movie house.
The number of married women who worked increased during the decade, as wives took jobs to help keep their families going. there was a lot of opposition to married women working, since it was thought they should be supported by their husbands, but many more worked all the same.
Those who had been used to having servants had to learn to make do without them. An ad from the derpression era showed a pair of elegant hands in a washtub with the caption “Doing it yourself these days?”
The marriage rate dropped and a lot of people stayed single, one woman who was working as a teacher during the depression described how her own fiancee vanished after he lost his job “it hit him like a ton of bricks” she said.
Q: Did Jim Braddock/Cinderella Man of the Depression kill two men in the boxing ring?
I need it for an extra credit project.
Did Jimmie kill two men while boxing like in the movie?
If so, who were they in the movie and in real life?
A: All I know is that Jim Braddock beat my great uncle Tuffy Griffiths. And that’s the truth!
Q: Question about depression in men?
If you had to make a list of the reasons why young men (15-35 years old) often suffer from depression what would they be ?
A: I think its the same kind of reasons both sexes suffer from depression. Men may be more reluctant to talk about their feelings and seek help as they might think its not very manly. Often with clinical depression just doing nothing about it just makes it worse. Reasons include:
*Chemical imbalances in the brain
*Bullying in an educational setting
*Pressure to achieve or support a young family
*Unhappy, chaotic childhood
*Poverty
*Isolation/lonliness
Q: What is the most common cause of depression in young men and women ?
A: Bad diet. Young people tend to either skip meals, eat junk like fast food, or cheap foods like Ramen noodles, and way too much sugar in the form of sweets, corn syrup and alcohol. Bad nutrition means you don’t get the nutrients needed to create healthy brain chemicals. Eventually poor diet, with stress and other factors, takes it’s toll.
People talk about having a “chemical imbalance” but it’s basic biology– brain chemicals are made from proteins which come from food… just like strong bones need calcium.

Sometimes the hardest thing is to admit you have a problem, especially with mental health as there is still a lot of stigma surrounding it.
I can only suggest that if he is not willing to talk about it, that you give him a notebook he can write how he feels on a day to day basis. Every so often look through it with him and try and get him to open up by asking questions eg. what makes you feel like that?
Acknowledging the problem is the hardest – once he does, things can progress
I hope this helps
